by Pat LaMarche (Author), Jeremy Ruby (Illustrator)
After decades of reporting on poverty and years of working one on one in homeless shelters, Pat LaMarche has pulled together an historical narrative and current events piece about how the economically disadvantaged feed themselves. Everything from celebrations to starvation, immigrant contributions to farm grown food, this book has stories and the recipes that accompany those tales.
Pat interviews refugees, civil rights leaders and world famous chefs to bring a book that rewards the reader with appetizing recipes from around the globe. And, the adventuresome cook - you can try the recipes out for themselves. Humble Pie contains many family heirloom foodie ideas as well as culinary concoctions supplied by a number of professional chefs.
